ESA Students Meet National Geographic Photographer and Learn about the Plight of the Florida Panther

ESA students met Palm Beach Zoo Education Director, Kristen Cytacki at Cinemark in Boynton Beach for a unique opportunity to view the documentary, Path of the Panther: A call to conservation action. The film’s mission is to raise public awareness of the plight of the Florida Panther The project resonates with the ambitions of the Environmental Academy: to expose high school students to Florida’s unique native habitats. This experience is part of a larger project for the students to consider wildlife corridors and the role they play in wildlife conservation. Palm Beach Zoo guest, award winning National Geographic Society supported photographer and documentarian, George McKenzie, Jr., hosted a conversation “Photography Changed Everything.” He shared with students the role wildlife photography plays in the shaping of the story of species. Students have used this dialog to initiate wildlife time-lapse camera projects on the Forest Hill Community High School campus and other initiatives designed to improve wildlife corridors for inner city species.
